That's right, tomorrow is the second Saturday in May, which can only mean...
The National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive* is here, that special day when your friendly, helpful, union letter carrier will pick up non-perishable items at your door and deliver them to your local food bank or feeding center.
It couldn't be easier. Head to your pantry and pull out some tasty, in-date non-perishables, put 'em in a bag or box and stick 'em on the porch (or mailbox vestibule, or out by the RFD box...) and your letter carrier will do the rest, making sure your donations get to the hungry folks that need them.
There are other ways to help your local food bank. Cash donations are truly the most efficient, as Second Harvest/Feeding America, can provide four full meals from a single dollar donation.
Still, I always try to promote the NALC's food drive. Your letter carriers are proud to help feed the hungry in their communities, and it feels good to get the cans in their hands.
Fill the bag, my friends, fill the bag. It'll make you feel really good, I guarantee.
*If you click through to the NALC Food Drive web site, ignore the video. It opens with fat-headed Trump sucker, Louis de-joy, taking credit for the food drive which is organized by the union, not the Postal Service. Just wanted to warn you. Listening to that f-— would take away anyone’s appetite.
