According to this story I saw on CNN, the Biden administration had issued a rule that would require each of the airlines to disclose, up front, all of the fees that might be charged in connection with purchasing a ticket, including baggage fees, cancellation fees, and rescheduling fees. As you might imagine, most of the airlines filed a lawsuit to stop the rule from going into effect, arguing that the rules would confuse customers and burden them with information they do not need to know. That’s right, the airlines do not think you need to know the actual cost of a ticket before you buy it and do not want us to worry our silly little heads about. And, as you might imagine, they filed suit in the 5th Circuit, where the Republicans and big business have rigged an entire circuit of the US Courts so that they always get their way unless even those courts make a ruling so extreme that even this rigged Supreme Court rejects it (which, in a case like this, is not likely).
So here we are — an administration actually fighting for the consumer, and big business is apparently about to use their rigged court system to prevent it from ever going into effect. This is why the courts, even beyond the Supreme Court, matter, and why anyone who wants to protect their own rights and from being screwed by big business should vote for Biden, even if you think he is too old or do not like what he has done or not done in connection with Gaza.
