I agree with Adam Kinzinger, I'm not surprised to hear Nikki H say she's going to vote for TFG, but it sure is pathetic.
Here is just a portion of her rationale: “As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border, no more excuses,” Haley said at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank. “A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt not more debt.”
I admit I'm left scratching my head:
- a president who has the backs of our allies. Seriously, TFG withheld aid to an ally, has threatened to pull out of NATO, has called strategic partners 's-hole' countries. Of course I could go on. Contrast to what Biden has done over the course of his term to build relationships, unite allies and more.
- a president who holds our enemies to account. What??? Can you say Putin, China, North Korea just for starters. The man who negotiated with the Taliban, even suggesting they come to Camp David. How does she say this with a straight face??
- a president who would secure the border. That's rich. Every effort the current administration has taken to do so ends up in court led by Red states. And then there is the border bill that Rs openly acknowledged they killed at TFG's request so that he could continue the chaos.
- a president who supports freedoms - except for women, the LGBTQ+ community, people of diverse backgrounds and anyone who isn't a Christian Nationalist.
- a president who knows we need less debt not more. Perhaps she was home sick when TFG and his toadies passed the biggest tax break they could for themselves and their oligarch friends? The committee for responsible budget estimates TFG's laws and executive actions added $8.4 trillion to the national debt, and Nikki knows this as she referenced it in one of the GOP debates.
One wonders a) what backdoor offer occurred for her to display such cowardice, and b) will her supporters be swayed? Or, will they see her now for who she really is?
