...Or at least disappointment.
Says the Christian Defense Coalition:
The Christian Defense Coalition is asking that President Bush and Vice President Cheney attend worship services in Katrina-ravaged Gulf states this Sunday to stand in solidarity with their fellow Americans that have been devastated by the storm.
The group is responding to President Bush's interview on Good Morning America in which he responded that He had no immediate plans to visit the area.
The good stuff below the fold.
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states, "In times of great suffering and pain, Americans have looked both to God and her leaders for comfort, support and inspiration. In light of the overwhelming desperation and suffering left by Katrina, we are asking that President Bush exercise more public inspirational and compassionate leadership in the midst of this crisis. We applaud him for taking the first step by releasing massive federal funds and resources to assist the needy. The Christian Defense Coalition is now urging President Bush to take the next step and immediately travel to the Gulf States to offer hope and inspiration as he did in New York City during 9/11. In a very real way, the President of the United States is a representative of all the American people. Therefore, he would not only be speaking for the Bush Administration but he would be sharing the prayers, hopes, concerns and thoughts of all of us. President Bush could both inspire and comfort, by looking to God and attending church services this Sunday with men and women that have lost everything."
Strip away the fundamentalist veneer:
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states, "In times of great suffering and pain, Americans have looked [to] her leaders for comfort, support and inspiration. In light of the overwhelming desperation and suffering left by Katrina, we are asking that President Bush exercise more public inspirational and compassionate leadership in the midst of this crisis.

Translation: where are you, Mr. President?
Seems like Kossacks are not the only ones wondering about the President's leadership.
