I recently took over a spare bedroom, because I was longing for a room of my own (yes, Wolfe was right). When I stopped at the hardware store to pick up paint roller covers, the young girl at the checkout asked if I had a project going on. "Yes," I replied. "I'm painting The Woman Cave." She stopped dead, looked at me in astonishment and envy, and said, "I want one!"
I highly recommend getting one.
I painted mine Confident Rose. I am going to paint the trim Lambswool White, but haven't had time to get that far yet. I also want to experiment with some chalkboard paint on the back of the door.
It's full of my favorite things (vintage globes, old windup alarm clocks, birds' nests, cobalt glass, elves, vintage floral prints, creepy deer figurines, vintage tins and picnic baskets, books, CDs, old advertising ashtrays, candles, and lots of plants) and I am trying to figure out how to set up my sewing space in the closet. I can listen to my music, and work, and read, and study, and relax...it's a tiny, crowded, glowing little madhouse, and it's paradise.
All I can see out the windows, when I am in my favorite corner of the daybed, is trees and sky.
A little solitude can be a blessed thing.
