Ann Romney has blown up all over the twitter- and blogosphere for her supposed condescension about "giving all you people what you need to know." However, the part of the clip that is perhaps more germane to the argument that the Romney camp can't be trusted is when she says this, right before the "you people" line:
...because there are so many things that will be open again for more attack and you just want to give more material for more attack, and that's really...that's just the answer...[Emphasis mine]
Just because Mrs. Romney, as a surrogate for her husband, gives an answer doesn't mean that it is correct or even on point. It was a non-answer and should be treated as such. Her interviewer should have called her on it.
This stonewall encapsulates the Romney camp--a bunch of secretive people who will say anything and nothing and who are hoping (planning!) that everyone will get tired of the story. The tin ear--the entitlement--that this reveals is that Mrs. Romney is saying that they get to say how much information they will give the voters, and that what the voters want doesn't matter. They're not even going to try to pretend that what the voters want counts.
These people are as anti-democratic as they come. We can't let them have an inch of air to spread their message. They must be challenged on all points, every day, until the election.
