With the threat of voter roll purging and caging by the GOP, and its possible implications looming over this election like a Supercell, or it leading to nationwide riots that will come if Mister 0.01% is elected, I thought I would add something that may offset the voter purging going on that cannot be fixed or rigged.
You see, I have lived the last 12 years in a town of 1,100 hundred people that has 12 churches. We have two gas-stations, one grocery store where you buy canned goods that have been on the shelf so long they are spoiled, and a Subway. So it goes without saying that I live in the reddest of regions. The community I live in has been led like a bull with a nose-ring for decades. Free, reflective, critical thinking does not exist and due to all the religious influence, is shunned. I here why bother when “God has a plan for us” and “whatever will be, will be, the good lord willing”. Whatever the preacher or the bible says is how it is or should be, and their bible verses are interpreted far to the right! Think Senator Ashcroft, Bond, and Blunt, and you get the idea. People in this region repeatedly vote against their own economic self-interests.
But here is a trend taking place that I keep overhearing at the gas station or here from my teenage kids that they heard from their friends. These people are not going to vote as protest against Romney and the 1%, Mormonism or they, deep in their soul realize that we are on the right track. They are going to simply not vote. They certainly cannot admit that President Obama has been a good president and that “Obamacare” has actually helped them, or they cannot vote for a Mormon,... ad hominem. They just can NOT admit it, either because of simple cognitive dissonance, or to save face within their peer group and will only say it openly except around others with similar feelings.
Anyways I thought I would share this observation that things are looking up, and let’s keep pushing to re-elect Obama.
Have a great day.
2:49 PM PT: apparently this is becoming a trend. Bill Keller is pushing this Jesus write-in plan. It gives me an idea. I think I am going to copy this and paste it all over town! We need to get the word out that the Evangelicals have a choice that is neither the Kenyan born muslim, nor the Pagan Mormon, but Jesus! Perfect! :)
