I live in Mississippi (in its Capital city, Jackson). I'm pretty much a loner type (a guy with two post graduate business degrees) that happens to work for a temporary services company for about $9 an hour. I'm single and will pretty much stay that way if my current economic status continues (and I consistently thinking about having a vasectomy). And I'm a black man. Moreover, I know that's a bit of a ramble, but I'm trying build my MOJO back.
So, in doing so, allow me to address the point I want to make. I listen to this show called Coast To Coast AM (with several hosts: George Noory (main) and a few others (http://www.coasttocoastam.com). I also occasionally listen to right-wing talk. One particular radio host, Kim Wade, is a hit with the right wingers on Mississippi Talk Radio (http://www.kimwadenoexcuses.com). He also happens to be a black man. With high level bitterness that delights his hateful followers--people who promote policies that work against people of his racial/ethnic background. Join me below orange, circuitous straw!

I guess the conservatives will have a multi-pronged approach of making minority versions of Rush Limbaugh and promoting conspiracy radio shows to rile up the ultra-gun protectionist people to action.
However, I'm really concerned that some of the white resistance groups will attempt to jump start the 2nd American Civil War and attempt initiate it by killing countless minorities.
Couple this with their very plausible defense of the 2nd Amendment, a theory that supports that the founding fathers constructed it to give the people the means and rights to protect them from government tyranny (and that action that will drastically limit U.S. citizens’ rights to those constitutional protections is support of an emerging police state.)
I know some Progressives may laugh this off as mere paranoia, but they could have a point in the reason the constitution grants this freedom. However, I believe they are delusional when it comes to wanting the police to only police minorities and poor and gay people. Some even wanted make it the death penalty for women aborting a fetus. However, when they are afforded the opportunity for the good of the country (regardless of how much I believe their arguments have a limited degree plausibility), they shrunk at the opportunity of relying on their police buddies to solely protect them. I think it's hypocritical that the same people who believe police can do no wrong if they are accused of misconduct cannot find it in their heart to trust their so-called law officer buddies. The same police that were supposed to protect them from big baddie black man burglar can't be trusted to protect them from the government. It's almost that they disassociate the police with government, yet they acknowledge them to be so in strange muted sense.
This brings me to original concern. Since I live close to High and behind Jefferson Street where a number of state government buildings are located, I’m afraid that some groups of lunatics may grab their militarized and high range clip stock and start spraying the community.
Also, while I can see that Constitution has afforded 2nd Amendment protections to the people to have guns to defend themselves from a tyrannical government (regardless of how remote the possibility), I believe there should be certain restrictions in who should be able to access such weapons. Of course, I'm open to the opinion that other restrictions can be permitted, but I'm not for wholly limiting the People access to guns that will allow them to defend themselves on par with paramilitary or military if need be. Of course, these are drastic circumstances where there could be a reach for power. I would hate for Americans to have to deal with Police who shoot can kill them in the streets the way Iranians young people were done in protest for their rights, but I understand (at the same time) there is a need for more gun control and mental and emotional health evaluations.
Now, what's the link between these conspiracy and/or right wing radio shows? It seems that they continue to propagandize programming to the extent that it makes people mentally frail and frighten. So, I'm concerned that if Democrats don't handle this the right way, then, it could create a resurgent Republican Party or even worse. The worst case scenario will come in the form of home-grown American terrorists with a mantra of protecting the country or taking it back with bullets blazing and clips and magazines (or shells) being emptied. This group could be so massive that it will result in a civil war in all but the name. I hope not for the sake of the country. Please find a way to tip and Mojo me up. I tried to provide a thoughtful diary to the best of my abilities.
I wonder what those Black right-wing-radio provocateurs will be like if such a tragedy occurs. Oh, I wish I could post the Dave Chappelle "White is Right" on YouTube, but I will not. There's no need to be ultra-conservative, when the country you're trying to protect is dying because of it. So, I digress.
11:01 AM PT: @43North: I totally agree that finding ways to restrict access by various methods without wholly preventing access to assault weapons is the more preferred way to.
I apologize for not communicating that idea better. Moreover, there exist a multitude of people who cling to their guns (when the government starts talking about banning them). I also believe those people have a plausible argument in wanting to protect those 2nd Amendments rights beyond the right to hunt. Of course, I am all for finding all sorts of restrictions (i.e., verification, background checks, and mental health evaluation) short of wholly banning access to those weapons.
