Their leading article is full of passive aggressive hubris
Despite his failings, and there were plenty, President Mohamed Morsi was Egypt’s first democratically elected leader, and his overthrow by the military on Wednesday was unquestionably a coup.
Do they really believe that the military would have intervened without a massive movement by the people of Egypt? So NYT, stop wringing your hands and demanding threats are made and support the people of Egypt.
Ex-President Morisi spent most of his waking hours trying to make the Presidency more powerful and the sole arbiter of what was constitutional or not. He was desperately trying to reverse democratic reform and secularism.
I notice that our MSM always seems to grab its security blanket when the will of the people overthrows the powers that be.
They fail to note the courage of the Egyptian people. Even when raped and assaulted women were willing to march. Ye gawds NYT don't you think the people of Egypt know the danger of their own MIC, they lived under it for decades and that the US fully supported it during that time.
The US should be ready to threaten Egypt if they don't go as fast as we demand, really you have still have enough hubris to propose to tell the people of Egypt what to do how to do it, and when to do it?
Under American law, Mr. Obama may have to withhold future aid if Egypt’s democratic processes are not quickly restored.
I really wish or MSM would concentrate on our own failings as the bully in the room rather than sanctimoniously pontificating how other countries should behave.
Make no mistake that this uprising and overthrow of their own government was by the will of the people, and make no mistake that Egypt's military leaders know this as well.
Funny how real democracy in action scares the bejesus out of the establishment.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Egypt and may this lead to the freedom they deserve. May their actions inspire others and show that the will of the people still counts for something in this world.
