Christie also admitted he hadn't seen the the alleged "traffic study" in question
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie less than a week ago on the Fort Lee bridge land closure:
I've asked my staff to give me a full briefing. They've told me everything we know.
And today
we learned that his Deputy Chief of Staff ordered the lane closures, saying it was "time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee," apparently because the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee refused to endorse Christie's reelection bid.
So if Christie wasn't lying when he said his staff told him everything they knew, either they were lying to him—or he was lying about what they told him. Whatever the case, the tone of the emails revealed today suggest that this wasn't an isolated incident, but it was part of standard operation procedure within Christie-land, suggesting that we're nowhere near the end of this story. In fact, it's just getting started.
11:16 AM PT: In related news, Christie earlier today cancelled an event with Hurricane Sandy victims just a half hour before it was scheduled to begin. The news about the Fort Lee emails had broken an hour earlier.
