Donald Rumsfeld, the former defense secretary under noted foreign policy savant George W. Bush, thinks that President Barack Obama's administration has messed things up in Afghanistan:

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is blasting the Obama administration’s handling of Afghanistan, saying a “trained ape” could have done a better job in diplomatic relations with the country.

February 2003, speaking on Iraq:

March 2003, on weapons of mass destruction:

We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.

You might almost welcome someone with that record criticizing your diplomatic record. Although that "trained ape" business is something else. Maybe we can be generous about Rumsfeld's intent there and assume that, rather than having crude racist overtones, that term was merely a reflection of how Dick Cheney saw George W. Bush.
