I have been coping with a drug dealing neighbor, and his buddies who ride atv's, dirt bikes at high speeds down the streets and alleys, blowing through stop signs etc.. Several of us have called the police about this, and he is a known drug dealer. One neighbor called all the time about this guy to no avail. There has been a drive by shooting at this residence as well.
The atv riders have scanners or scanner programs and cease activity when the call goes out over dispatch. Except for one time, when there was a high speed chase through the surrounding area. Some arrests were made.
We decided to talk to the commander of the precinct in person about the situation and today, the morning of the meeting, we got a visit from 3 members of the swat team, who had erroneous info that we were the problem house. Funny huh? So we went to the meeting and we ask the commander of the precinct, which is 1/2 a mile away, about previous complaints about the house in question. He was unaware of any. And he was unaware of any prior shootings. Oh really? And after listening to the outline of the situation told us that it should be taken care of in a month. This guy has been living and dealing at this residence for @ 7 years. The landlord who owns the house is involved in the drug dealing and his son is one of the riders of the atvs.
What is going on here? I have heard comments repeated to me from people I trust that the dealer says he knows who calls the police on him, and I tend to believe him. We told the commander we were concerned that they seem to have a source of information in the city govt. Commander say he won't entertain such an idea and I do understand why. I put it out there though.
Before anyone tries to give me a hard time about a drug dealer, you don't live here and you don't see what I have to contend with. This guy is abusive. Is there anyone in law enforcement that can shed some light on what might be happening here?
In particular, I find it hard to believe the commander is unaware of what is going on. I also feel like someone might be sending me a message with the swat visit.
Mon Jul 21, 2014 at 6:00 AM PT: Wish I had done more research about the commander. He is the head of the SWAT team, and has been the commander of the precinct sub-station for 2 years. Can't believe he doesn't know anything, so he must be comfortable lying. He showed no emotion at all when I asked about previous reports and calls associated with the address in question. The very essence of wooden.
When I think about the amount of activity I see, the more I realize that it must make a pretty penny for whoever is involved. Even a bribe to look the other way. The area the commander oversees has a higher concentration of drug activity than anywhere else in the city. Amsterdam. And I don't believe in large scale coincidences.
I remember when I first moved in and saw the police patrolling several times a day on my street and thought they must be responding to a complaint from a neighbor about the boys hanging out against a fence, possibly small time dealers. But now it seems more sinister. Who wants competition? The fact that someone can martial resources to do that, yet will not patrol for known problems says that they pick and choose.
I think one of the things that may keep me safe vs expendable to these creeps is that during an arrest of some their group for illegally riding ATVs through the surrounding area, a name was withheld from the incident reports. And the activity level died down, scouts were sent out to see if they were being followed, and parked cars were scrutinized. It is possible they were being investigated by an outside source, and they think I am part of that. State or federal. We paid cash for this inexpensive house, and put it into an LLC.
