The fuzzy destroyer
Very late last month,
Kitsap River heard about what a certain cat did to my air mattress, and renewed her objections to my sleeping conditions. So she asked to write a
diary, and I accepted.
I'd like to thank everyone who donated, and who signal-boosted. Daily Kos always gives me great hope for humanity. $320.00 was raised towards a bed, and I'm looking into the options that gives me.
Look at that smug face!
I'm also going to have
almost everything that I own under one roof for the first time since I became homeless, come this weekend! And that wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for River's diary, either. To have my quilts, pictures, and other precious things back (the things you don't bring to a homeless shelter) will be almost magical. Thank you so much. (Make that everything! :kermityay:)
I really don't know what I'd do without my friends at Daily Kos. I've met so many good people here, and so much happens here that restores my faith in humanity.
So again, thank you all so very much!
You're all awesome
6:50 PM PT: I have to add another thank you. I'm going to be warm this winter. :) I received an email with the remarkably generous offer of a feather comforter and duvet. Last winter I slept under my jacket (my quilts and cloak were stored, but wouldn't have been enough--it was bitter cold). So thank you again!
Tue Aug 12, 2014 at 12:53 PM PT: Update Number Two, Back Spasms have their uses:
Yesterday and today have been days of unremitting back spasms. The worst kind. The kind where I actually take my medication. Hmph. But I saw one of the other people who lives in the apartment building who has a truck, and having few fucks to give (hiccups on top of spasms from couch sleeping beat anxiety all hollow), and asked if she might have time to get my to Mardens at some point.
And she said yes! I'm going to have to research prices there (I know a simple iron boxspring holder is the same as the wood frame I had picked out), but it looks like a bed is in my future, possibly on Sunday! Thank you all!
Wed Aug 13, 2014 at 1:52 PM PT: MAJOR UPDATE:
I've been working on a pair of socks for my roommate's boyfriend. He's a sweet guy, with some of the same issues I have. When I told him over messenger that I did not have enough for a bed, despite a fund-raiser, he paypal'd me the amount needed to finish off the IKEA setup. I will have a bed to sleep on.
Still no sheets, but I have blankets in plenty, and I'm sure that I can get the queen sheets to work somehow. OMG, I am SO excited!
