A little earlier today I posted a comment to Eric Nelson's Diary entitled "In officer Daren Wilson's defense". The diary is about how the Grand Jury was provided an unconstitutional statute by the DA in determining whether to indict, as presented on MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell's show the night before. The comment I posted was entitled "Fight or Flight' which was about Wilson's choice to stand and shoot instead of just running away after Michael Brown allegedly turned and ran toward him. But I never expected to get a response from a Dailykos member like what I got.
Join me after jumping over /\ the orange squiggle where I have posted both my comment and the response I got in their entirety.
First here is my "Fight or Flight" Comment:
"Even if one buys into the accounts of some witnesses that Michael Brown turned and started running towards Officer Wilson (which is in dispute based on the testimony), the question remains as to why Officer Wilson chose to stand and shoot instead of running the other way until other Officers arrived, and whether his decision to shoot instead of run serves as the basis of an indictment?
By the time Brown allegedly turned around, Wilson must of known that Brown was unarmed and that he was wounded by the previous shots based on the blood from Brown which was on him. Wilson clearly had the opportunity to run away from Brown. I am not saying that it is a certainty that Wilson could outrun the wounded Brown, but by all accounts, Wilson never tried to run the other way. Instead he decided to stand his ground and fire away.
The fact that Brown was unarmed and wounded should have eliminated the "probable cause" that Brown was an immediate threat to Officer Wilson or the public, regardless of whether Brown was running away or towards Wilson. This lack of probable cause should have been sufficient to remove any justification for Wilson shooting instead of trying to run away, and provided a basis to support an indictment of at least involuntary manslaughter.
Anyone disagree?"
And here is the one and only response I got:
"Cops don't run from criminals. You have all misplaced your bleeding hearts. It does not matter that white oppression contributed to the poor decisions that Brown made, he still made them. He violated the rights of the store owner, assaulted the store owner, assaulted the police officer and was all together an unholsome human being (as shown by the manny damning photos of him that the MSM won't show). Black Americans are better off with one fewer of these walking stereotypes dragging their race down, and so is this country.
Anyone disagree?"
I was floored! I couldn't believe something like this would be posted by a fellow Kossack. I would expect something like this from someone on RedState, but here! I will not identify the author of this response, but if you want to know you can go to the
In officer Daren Wilson's defense diary and scroll down the comment thread to find it.
I know we have had our pie fights around here, but this leaves me speechless.
6:47 PM PT: UPDATE: Some have informed me that this dude (or dudet) is a new, one time poster and not a true D'Kos member (a likely troll). While I understand the difference, the response is no less offensive.
