In a bizarre stunt to gain who knows what, a coordinated attack by the group Flush Rush appears to have taken over the DailyKos Recent List. Will update when more information becomes available.
Wed Mar 25, 2015 at 10:55 PM PT: JeffW has filed a complaint at the help desk. Feel free to pile on.
11:27 AM PT: Per elfling in the comments:
Looks like a bunch of old historic diaries were unpublished and then republished today. I don't know if this was deliberate to spam the recent list or an unfortunate misunderstanding of how to republish to a group.
What I do know is that when you do this, you change the diary URL even though it keeps the content and the comments. It will break the URLs if there were any pointers to these diaries on the internet, so all that linkage is gone and can't be replaced.
11:38 AM PT: The diary and title cannot be edited from my phone without it ending up at the top of the recent list. I am not going to do that.
This appears to be the result of the actions by an idividual, and no one here ever really believed it was a "coordinated attack by the Flush Rush organization".
The diary and title were fun meta for everyone who witnessed the event. They should not be taken literally.
10:30 PM PT: Again, per elfling in the comments...
There's no evidence that anyone other than the original author of the diaries was involved.
IE, either it was bad judgement and intentional as a stunt to get more attention, or it was bad judgement in how to use the tools by a long time user and author. It's not some third party coming in as far as I'm aware.
When the diaries were republished their urls were changed. The instant that happened every link anywhere on the internet that previously lead to those diaries was broken. On this end. By the diarist.
The fact that there were TWO brand new diaries demonstrates that this was either deliberate or accidental action by the diarist in question.
It's elfling's job to figure this shit out. Listen to him.
10:58 PM PT: It has been brought to my attention that elfling is a woman. I humbly apologize for the incorrect pronoun used above.
