Received this e-mail today from Superintendent Tony Evers’ (D. WI) gubernatorial campaign:
Tony Evers (D. WI)
Even with the devastation from the Florida school shooting front and center in the news and our youth demanding action, Walker’s attorney general, Brad Schimel, is proposing the introduction of more guns into our schools.
As someone who has spent his career working with kids, and as the current leader of the Department of Public Instruction, I am disgusted.
I need your help to send a message that introducing guns into Wisconsin’s schools is wrong. That is why, before the end of the day, I need to get 1O,OOO Wisconsinites to add their names and stand with me.

As state superintendent, I’m going to keep fighting this dangerous proposal with the full weight of my power.
And as governor, I further pledge to stand up to any elected official who is willing to risk the lives of innocent kids to advance the agenda of the NRA.

The right to a public education is the bedrock of the American dream. Our classrooms must be safe places and those in power need to be protecting students and educators alike, not exposing them to new danger. Our kids deserve better.
Onward
Tony
