We used to be homeless, now we live in a Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) building for seniors. We’re protected from arbitrary rent increases and evictions. We can survive on our SocIal Security, some of our neighbors survive just on SSI.
Last weekend I saw a MAGA couple moving in. WTH? Do these people think Trump, or the GOP, ever did anything, or would ever do anything, for low-income people or seniors? Some political education is called for. Specifically, each and every LIHTC building should have a “precinct captain” or equivalent who can talk to their fellow residents. This won’t be difficult, since the HUD database has the street address of every LIHTC building right there on the HUD website, conveniently grouped by Congressional district. (There are other, similar categories of Federally-subsidized “project-based” housing.)
7 million people, in every state, who are overwhelmingly seniors or BIPOC, live in some form of subsidized housing. hub.arcgis.com/...
For a little effort and no money, 100% of these buildings can be identified and canvassed. (We retired people tend to have time on our hands.)
