As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Greetings my friends, and welcome to another Saturday! Congratulations on making it through yet another week. I am so glad that you are all here with me. At this point you all know how important audio books are for me. I think that everyone should have the option, if they want it. Unfortunately, audible is not within everyone’s budget. Luckily, I was introduced to another option not so long ago, and I thought it would be good to share the wealth, if for no other reason, then because knowledge is good.
Did you know that there are many states that offer library cards/services to nonresidents? I did not, until someone pointed this out as an option for me. I now have access to a nonresidential library card from Fairfax County VA. For the very reasonable cost of $27.00/year. (Which incidentally is what i pay for my audible membership, per month) With my Fairfax Va. Library card, I have access to their ebook library, as well as their rather sizable audiobook catalog, through the use of Libby. I can even work my way through their collection of online documentary and educational films. So, all in all, to my mind, it was worth the $27.00
I recommend taking a poke around the net and seeing if you can find an out of state library that meets your needs. After all, not only is this good for us, but if a little money from us helps to keep the libraries up and running, I call that a win/win!
