I’m interested in how things are made—as well as what they’re made of—so this week we’ll continue along that track. This morning is Oreo Cookies. I eat these about once a year, as a tradition with my son on our first official visit to the island every summer. A tradition I started before he was even born and for reasons I have long since forgotten. But as tasty and addictive as they are, Oreo’s really aren’t very good cookies.
I’m no food or film critic, but I do have to point out a couple obvious errors in the film below. The various baking companies came together to form the National Biscuit Company (NaBisCo) not the National Baking Company as stated by that indistinct, toneless voice that narrates the short. And, two ingredients are obviously left out of the recitation: high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavor. No more pure butter cream filling, my friends.
Oh well, I guess that’s the way the cookie crumbles or something like that.
