Tim Scott is a GOP politician who wants to be Vice President. So, do not expect honesty. All politicians stretch the truth. But for 24-carat mendacity find a Republican with his eye on a promotion. Especially when the guy handing out jobs rewards liars.
The sycophantic hand-licker is so eager to get a pat on the head that this self-declared Christian has sacrificed the ninth commandment, “Thou shalt not bear false witness,” on the altar of his ambition.
Today, he was again on the MSM’s Sunday morning news shows. And in front of the country, he regurgitated fantasy and falsity with the determination of a crusader.
On CNN’s Face the Nation, Dana Bash brought up Trump’s fantasy that the FBI had targeted him for assassination. And she highlighted the resulting request by Jack Smith for a gag order to prevent Trump from inspiring more violence.
Bash asked Scott if he thought that Trump’s MAGA-pleasing mischaracterization was dangerous. Especially as Trump was taking the boilerplate language — also found in the search warrant for Biden’s house — and making it seem as if the DOJ had singled him out for special deadly treatment.
In her words:
“Federal prosecutors are now asking for a gag order in that classified documents case after the former president said that FBI agents who searched Mar-A-Lago were, ‘locked and loaded, ready to take me out,’ and that he ‘nearly escaped death.’ But Senator, that same language was also in the order for President Biden’s home. So do you agree with the attorney general that this is not only false, what the former president said, but extremely dangerous?”
Scott ignored Bash’s question and answered another one.
“I saw the video of the SWAT team from the FBI raiding Mar-A-Lago. I have not seen the same video of them raiding Joe Biden’s garage, so I’d love to have that comparison. But more importantly, once again, we find ourselves reinforcing this two-tiered justice system — where we see a different standard for Republicans and specifically a different standard for Donald Trump.”
(Bolding mine)
There was no ‘raid’. The FBI coordinated with Trump’s lawyers. He was in New Jersey with his Secret Service protection. Did Scott think Garland had signed off on a gunfight at the OK Corral in South Florida? And if the Biden administration was planning an extra-judicial killing, why are they bothering with years-long legal cases?
Scott has lost the capacity for shame. The same DOJ has indicted Democratic Senator Bob Mendez for felonies. But do not hold your breath waiting for Scott to bring that up.
Bash tried again. I am guessing she thought that a sitting Senator, who professes to be a moral man, would have some shred of decency left
“What I really am asking you about is the language being used — which is misleading. People like Steve Bannon called this an ‘assassination attempt.’ Doesn’t that kind of language concern you?”
If Bash thought Scott was a man of honor and integrity she missed her bet. He is on a mission. And that mission is his aggrandizement, the American people be damned.
“Watching the treatment of Joe Biden by the justice system, when they have found him unable to stand before a jury of his peers because he’s too old, frankly, and his memory is shot, that is not the kind of simple, fair justice system that Americans expect
So it is very difficult to see this justice system currently playing out where it is fair to both Donald Trump and Republicans, as we’ve seen the kid gloves and the insulation around Joe Biden and his family. We all want fairness without any question, especially when Lady Justice should wear a blindfold. But we don’t see that playing out, Dana.”
Scott continued dissembling. Trump’s useful minority next accused Biden of resegregating America’s public schools. He said that the notoriously racist Trump was the right man to ensure scholastic racial integration.
“We need four more years of common sense under Donald Trump, and not four more years of segregation under Joe Biden.”
The reader may wonder what Biden did to segregate schools. The Guardian reported Scott’s logic thus:
Asked by CNN host Dana Bash whether suggesting Biden was for segregation was going too far, Scott tried to justify the contention by saying that “the elimination of charter schools under Joe Biden resegregates schools in America”. He added that schools in the largest cities were being resegregated by “Joe Biden’s Department of Education which has halted the growth of charter schools that provide greater diversity”.
Once again, Scott lied like a Trump. As the Guardian further reported:
In fact, charter schools, which are publicly funded but which operate outside state school systems, are backed by federal government grants through the Charter Schools Program to the tune of $440m a year – a level that has remained unchanged since 2019 under the Trump administration.
Even Scott’s claim that charter schools are more racially diverse than public schools was bullshit. Studies show that Republicans' preferred educational institutions reinforce segregation. An outcome that explains why conservatives love them.
The report continues:
Scott’s argument that charter schools create more diversity is also open to question.
New research carried out by sociologists at Stanford University and the University of Southern California to mark 70 years of the landmark US supreme court ruling outlawing segregated schools, Brown v Board of Education, reveals that segregation has been creeping back up for the past 30 years. One of the main drivers of the revival, contrary to Scott’s claim, has been the rise of charter schools, the academics discovered.
I do not know what Scott sees in the mirror. But Americans not blinded by MAGA, see a weak ass-kissing opportunist — just like South Carolina’s other Senator, Trump’s bag-carrier, Lindsey Graham. Along with other spineless wonders like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.
Southern conservatives mythologize about the bravery and fighting spirit of their Civil War boys in grey — who would have dispatched the Yankee bluebottles, if it were not for the North’s overwhelming industrial might. Even if it were true then, the yellow-liver’d men who represent the South now have pissed on their graves.
Their weakness is sickening.
