Harry, Harry, Harry, I am so ashamed.
How on earth can you even think that appeasing these anti-mosque people is going to help?
Your office is quoted as saying:
The office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada issued a statement saying, "The First Amendment protects freedom of religion. Senator Reid respects that, but thinks that the mosque should be built some place else."

Uh, no. What are you going to say, Harry, when some anti-Mormons say, "No, we can't have a Temple here, we don't like your religion." (And yes, there are loads of them out there, they overlap with the people who hate Muslims.)
Seriously, Harry, this is the First Amendment we're talking about here. If you even had half a thought that you might be rescuing the Constitution while it's hanging by a thread, well, you can just think again.
