No, not to me -- I’m not claiming journalism, here. But, and I shit-you-not, Politico just might have committed a little bit, a week ago.
Moreover, by reporting last Friday that
A firm co-founded by Donald Trump’s original campaign manager Corey Lewandowski [Washington East West Political Strategies] appears to have been pitching clients around the world by offering not only policy and political advice, but also face time with President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and senior members of their administration, according to documents and interviews.
A document provided to an Eastern European politician by an international consulting firm that Lewandowski co-founded this year promises to arrange “meetings with well-established figures,” including Trump, Pence, “key members of the U.S. Administration” and outside Trump allies.
and that
The Washington East West Political Strategies document boasts that its clients will benefit from its partners’ ability to “leverage” their “trusted relations with the U.S. Administration,” as well as European parliamentarians and leading Western journalists.
...Politico might well have gotten the ball rolling.
Only one week later, TPM reports that
President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski announced Thursday that he will leave the lobbying and consulting firm he co-founded, amid accusations that he offered international clients access to President Donald Trump and key members of his administration.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Lewandowski said he is concerned he has lost control over Avenue Strategies, which he co-founded with former Trump campaign adviser Barry Bennett after the 2016 election.
and that Lewandowski says:
“The most important thing is my reputation, and I’ve worked really hard in the face of adversity to try to be successful,” he said, as quoted in the report.
Sounds like he’s leaving his own company “to spend more time with his reputation.”
So, while Corey begs at least some of us to believe that he stands fast in the face of adversity, I think he’s scared we’ll notice that he runs fast in the harsh light of attention, with a dash of scrutiny.
Sure — it’s not Trump, Pence, Bannon, Kushner, Gorka, Miller, Flynn, Carson, Mannon or even DeVos…
but it’s enough to turn my schadenfrown™ upside-down, for a little while.
