Open Letter to Robert Mueller
Mr. Mueller,
You have made it clear that come tomorrow, all in all, you’d rather be in the Bahamas.
Too bad.
You are described as a “reluctant” witness.
I am reminded of another group of “reluctant” people with a duty they would rather pass on, who had taken this oath:
I, ( the name of some poor bastard running away from trouble at home), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
The Oath of Enlistment.
Those reluctant people I speak of were the 18-20 year old kids who you sent out on point in the jungle. They all “reluctantly” did their job well enough that your Purple Heart was not awarded posthumously.
They too would have preferred the Bahamas, but they kept their oath, obeyed the President’s order to fly halfway around the world, and your order to go out in the bush.
Easy, relative to the officer’s oath, the one you have taken repeatedly:
I, Robert Swan Mueller lll, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
Now, you have a duty that is damned unpleasant, maybe even as bad as walking point in the jungle.
You have to fulfill your oath, and it has nothing to do with the duties of the office you entered; you can stop at:
I, Robert Swan Mueller lll, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…
…because you know goddamn well that Donald J. Trump is a threat to the Constitution.
In a fair world, your report would, on its face, be the evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors used to impeach and remove.
The world ain’t fair.
Your duty is to clearly communicate, to the public, that Trump, and some with him, are “enemies, foreign and domestic,” of the Constitution you swore to protect.
Namby-pamby bullshit about the legal role of your office is not relevant, you must protect the Constitution.
If you leave any doubt in the mind of a fair-minded observer about Trump’s threat to the Constitution, you will be shipping the Constitution home in a box to be buried.
