Haven’t seen this diaried anywhere else. According to the WSJ, Trump dealt with people who had ties to organized crime to build his casino’s and buildings in NYC. This is behind the WSJ paywall, so, let me put in a few items from the Journal:
They included a man described by law enforcement as an agent of the Philadelphia mob; a gambler convicted of tax fraud and barred from New York racetracks; a union leader found guilty of racketeering; and a real-estate developer convicted in a stock scheme that involved several Mafiosi.
Now, most of these occurred long ago, but, they state:
With one exception, these associations were long ago. Still, in the home stretch of Mr. Trump’s run for the presidency, he frequently cites his lucrative business career as a qualification for the nation’s highest office, and his past associations color that record.
Trump says he is the cleanest guy there is and the mob would not exist if everyone played the same game as he does. And, some people in the article say that if you were in the real estate business in the 80’s and 90’s you had to deal with this unsavory lot. Maybe yes/maybe no, maybe there were ways to get this done without involving the mob. Clearly, he had no issue in dealing with people with ties to organized crime as, I suppose, the end justifies the means for Trump.
It’s worth reading, just another in a long line of questionable activities by Trump that adds to the large pile of things making him unsuitable to be President.
