I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota -- a place where Obama signs happily dot the landscape, and where we pride ourselves on being "Minnesota nice." But today I went out to my mailbox to find a flier from those not-so-nice folks at the Republican Party of Minnesota. On the front, above my name and address, is a picture of Obama with a quote to the left of the photo that reads, "I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough." -- The New York Times, 9/11/01.
Below the quote is a picture of William Ayers, but at first glance the quote seems to be from Obama himself! The inside is even worse -- the sleaziest, Willie-Horton-era slime I have seen in a long time.
So guess what? I wasn't going to do any door-knocking until NOW. (My husband is going to be a poll watcher for Obama, so I thought that he could represent our family.) But I am going to volunteer TODAY. I want to stand up to these sleazy tactics, and give all I can.
And I just donated more money to El Tinklenberg, too. If this is the kind of nasty McCarthy-era crap that Michelle Bachmann and her cronies at the Minnesota Republican Party are putting out, I am going to fight it on as many fronts as I can.
