Capuano -> Yes!

by mayan

Short diary.

I haven't seen this elsewhere.  If it's up already, I will delete.  That said, after days of fence sitting, Capuano states on his web page that he will vote yes.

Call me Temujin.

I has come to my attention that not everyone at this site is a Horde.  That's why God gave us plunder and devastation.  To wipe out the non hordes.  This may seem a bit tough...I mean dealing out horrible deaths to people who aren't with the horde program may seem a bit unfair but hey!  them's the breaks, as we like to say.  Just ask the Tatars.  They're a good source. (Hahaha..."tatar source" - that's a little Horde joke.  You don't get it?  Don't think it's funny?  You talkin' to me?  Ever had your head on a spit?)

I Have Become a Horde

by mayan

Call me Temujin.  After considerable inner debate and a great deal of soul-searching, I have decided to become a stalwart follower of Ghenghis Khan.  I woke up this morning and started pondering...hell, if plunder and mayhem was good enough for the GOP class of 2000-2008, why not go all the way.

Plus, I suddenly found that I had an irresistable impulse to defeat and subjugate the Tanguts and most of that big continent over there.  Come to think of it, I'm not real fond of the Uyghurs, Tatars or Merkits either.  Oh well. Who knew?  But who could blame me? At any rate, I feel a swelling of my ranks and it's time I did something about it.

Follow me below the thang or else!

More GOP games.  Tra la.

Apparently, an unnamed GOP Senator has placed a "hold" on the nomination of Lisa Jackson.  WSJ  - Hold Placed on Jackson

A spokesman for Sen. John Barrasso (R., Wyoming) said the senator has asked that Jackson’s name be taken off of a list of cabinet nominees pegged for expedited consideration by the chamber. The spokesman said Barrasso’s main concern is not so much with Jackson, but rather that she will effectively report to an unelected, unconfirmed energy czar, Carol Browner, whom Obama has chosen as his special assistant for energy and climate policy. The spokesman added that Barrasso doesn’t oppose a roll call vote on Jackson’s nomination, but says the senator only got written answers to his questions on Tuesday and the hearing transcripts today.

Another AP Hit Piece - F**K Them

by mayan

For those who were welcoming the new breeze coming from DC, don't worry, the sludge keeps coming even as we are about to turn the page on the national nightmare that has traumatized the country for the last eight years.  Yup.  The hit pieces keep coming from the AP.  More agit prop opinion disguised as "news."  The subject of this rant?  An AP piece that has now received its second day of prominence at the MSNBC web page.  Currently, it's burying the lede:  World's Ardor For Obama Cools Amid Challenges - as far as I can see, the blathering is not attributed to an author.

After pausing at the hyperventilating lede, we go to the article itself.  Hmmmm...what's the title?  As challenges mount, ardor for Obama cools with the subheading An impatient world wonders how much the president-elect can deliver.  This looks like really bad news, eh?  Let's just see what's in the article itself.  To do that, let's go under the flip, shall we?

This is a week for short diaries and I must join the fray.  Mea Culpa in advance.

No celebration of the dawn that is currently breaking in our world, our hearts and our minds, is complete without a heartfelt tip of the hat to Keith Olbermann, the MSNBC management and some of the MSNBC posse.

No Mistrial for Ted Stevens

by mayan

I'll make this sure and really, really SUH-WEET!  Schadenfreudic, in fact.  An AP story says that the judge has again rejected a mistrial for Ted Stevens.

No Mistrial For Stevens

The judge essentially exonerated the prosecution:

Earlier Monday, U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan ordered the government to file a formal response at the end of the day to repeated defense claims that prosecutors intentionally withheld evidence favorable to their client. In an initial filing late Sunday, prosecutors wrote, "Contrary to all of the theatrics and hyperbole from the defense, no one has attempted to hide evidence or hold back any discoverable item."

Hokey dokey...Al Giordano is one of the brightest stars in the progressive blogging community.  Incisive, steady and penetrating progressive commentary on the primaries and election cycle.

As some of you may know, his preeminent blog...The Field...moved from Rural Votes to its NEW home as a result of contretemps arising from Al citing Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals in a post about organizing.  (Censored for Alinsky? Sheeeesh!!!! Go figger! Oh well.)

Moving "The Field" - Finding Giordano

by mayan

This will be short.  Al Giodano, the incredibly astute and visionary progenitor of The Field, one of the most important of my "go to" blogs, has sought out greener pastures and will no longer be featured at the "rural votes" blog site.

It seems to shake out like this.  Lately, Al had been exerting efforts to organize the "FieldHands" into discernable geographic blocks to facilitate work for Obama.  Go HERE if you want to check that out or join.  And then...Al vanished.  It all went dark...one of the most frightening thing that can happen in the Intertubes.  Happily, Al has resurfaced.  Unhappily, this appears to be tied to his attempts to organize or to quote the 13 rules for radicals of Saul Alinsky.  Al promises to kiss and tell about the journey from censorship to freedom of political thought sometime on Monday.

I don't see this on the diaries.  I'll make it short and sweet.

DemConWatch show that Obama picked up a second Superdelegate today.

This one is Alan B. Mollohan from - gasp - West Virginia.  (How bout them apples?)

This is a short little report/rant from the cable news front by one person unfortunate enough to turn on the "news" for a brief period this morning.

I have oft times felt that my sense of reality did not comport with most of my fellow human beings.  Admittedly, this started at an early age.  I remember being in kindergarten or first grade and observing my peers contentedly rolling around the playground...and just feeling that I had, somehow, been delivered to the wrong planet.  So be it.  This feeling faded over time, for the most part, but every now and again, it gets restimulated...not the least cause of this restimulation is television news.  So I stay away, for the most part.

Yep.  Keep me away from the pundicrats and the bloviators.  Occasionally, I'll watch Keith Olbermann.  Even more rarely, I'll watch Matthews or Russert.  Anything else is liable to result in my mind capsizing...feeling adrift in a malicious universe and entirely at odds with a majority of my fellow human beings.  It's an almost inflexible rule.  I don't watch it.

According to the Politico's Ben Smith, two Alaskan superdelegates have declared for Obama.

The way I read this, it's three from this morning and these two for an addition of 5.
