Daniel Biss was my State Representative a few years ago. I was coaching a school Science Olympiad team and he heard that my team qualified for the Illinois State tournament and asked to come talk to the kids. He was genuine, caring and thoroughly interested in what the kids had to say. He has a PhD in math from MIT and his BA is from Harvard. He left his tenured teaching position at the University of Chicago to run for the Illinois legislature and also served as my Illinois Senator. Daniel is now running for governor against a crowded field in the Democratic primary including the wealthy JB Pritzker and Chris Kennedy. I, for one, am tired of the 1% having a leg up in politics...especially since Citizen’s United. Therefore, I am thoroughly excited about his candidacy. He is crisscrossing the state to meet people and has been at every anti-Trump march in the Chicago area among other locations. Illinois has many problems stemming from years of fiscal mismanagement and Daniel is the right person for the job.
