The Dem candidates STILL don't "get" the YearlyKos (now NetrootsNation) convention, the DailyKos, blogging, the blogosphere, or "New Media".
The YearlyKos convention was 1,500 people, smaller than many small towns in Iowa and New Hampshire. Candidates could easily shake hands with lots of people there, visit the booths, talk to us face-to-face.
If they 'got it' that is...
The NetrootsNation is "Retail Politics" like New Hampshire and Iowa. We want to get to know our candidates, look them in the eye, and talk with them. Like Iowa and New Hampshire, something candidates have done for decades... elsewhere.
But they used us as props. They came and talked over our heads at the FAUX NOISE cameras, at those concern trolls who peddle distractions about cleavage and haircuts.
Every single campaign missed a GOLDEN opportunity... they could have OWNED the blogosphere if they had any idea who they were talking to.
We're just regular folks that they did not bother to get to know when they had the chance.
We have millions of friends to talk to about the people we meet... and we could have had a lot more nice things to say if we had actually met a candidate.
