The Hotlist of DK4 is not an option in DK5. But it’s not all bad news.
Your old Hotlist is still accessible just as it used to be. It wasn’t certain that was going to happen so I am very happy.
Credit goes to Elfling for figuring out this workaround.
To archive stories in DK5 you’ll need to make yourself a group. Click on your name in the upper right corner and select My Groups from the dropdown. Then create a new group. This area of the blog appears as it did in DK4 so it will be familiar. Now whenever you think “I’d like to Hotlist this if only those %#&%#*@!% devs hadn’t ruined DK” you can. In the upper left area of the sidebar under Comments and Recs you’ll see “Add to blog”. Click that and you’ll get a pop up that allows you to select the group, write a note if you want, and then put it in the Queue. I don’t know what happens if you publish it but it might be something to do with antimatter and black holes.
You’ll have access to the stories from any device (as long as you’re logged in, of course). When you go to your groups select the one you’re saving to and then go into the queue which is clickable from the top of the right hand sidebar. There they are!
I hope that’s enough information for people to manage this. Once you set it up it really isn’t any more clicks than the old Hotlist.
Wee Mama has also got a community project going. You can join that group and save stories to it that everyone in the group will be able to access. Read about that here: Join Wee Mama's hotlist group
