President Obama made it clear to the public that voters are displaying their frustrations by giving Donald Trump their vote. The president then made a crack at Trump saying that the American people will not stupidly trust the presidential hopeful with the launch codes for the nuclear warheads.
“I continue to believe that Mr. Trump will not be president and the reason is that I have a lot of faith in the American people. He went on to further mention, “And I think they recognize that being president is a serious job. It’s not hosting a talk show or a reality show. It’s not promotion. It’s not marketing. It’s hard,” said Obama while speaking at a California conference on Tuesday.
In the past, Obama voiced his criticism of trump and spoke against his way of handling the Muslim crisis. Obama increased his criticism of Trump on Tuesday when he attended a meeting of summit leaders from the 10 Southeast Asian countries. At the meeting, the president of the US harshly criticized Trumps handling of foreign policy issues.
Obama made it clear that the president’s job is one that he should know about world leaders, where to find them in the world and their history. In the past since the debate for the president office started, Trump had not answered certain questions about foreign policies correctly.
Obama continued, “Whoever is standing where I am standing now has the nuclear codes with them and can order a 21-year-olds into a firefight and has to make sure the banking system does not collapse. The American people are pretty sensible and I think will make a sensible choice in the end”.
Obama did admit however, that Trump was successful in showing a good side of him in the early primary states but he predicted that that the president hopeful would lose that appeal as the election exercise draws closer.
“Yea during primaries people vent, and they express themselves, and it seems like entertainment, and often it’s reported just like entertainment. But as you get closer, reality has a way of intruding”, he added.
Obama went on to add that it was not by coincidence that he has become critical of Trump. “I mean, I find it interesting that everybody’s focused is on Trump, primarily just because he says in more interesting ways what the other candidates are saying as well. He may up the ante in anti-Muslim sentiment, but if you look at some of what the other Republic candidates have said, that’s troubling too”, Obama was quick to point out.
When speaking of the role that Florida’s Senator Marco Rubio is playing, Obama said, “You’ve got a candidate who sponsored a bill that I supported, to finally solve the immigration problem and he is running away from it as fast as he can”.
As Obama continued to watch the Democratic race closely, he openly supported Hilary Clinton his former Secretary of State above another presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders. He noted that they two candidates agree on some matters, however, they are more using tactics to try to outshine each other.
In his conversation, Obama added that both candidates are vouching for climate change and give thumbs up to science. “They think it is important for us to have some basic regulations, to keep our air clean and our water clean and to make sure banks aren’t engaged in excesses that can result in the kind of things that we saw in 2007 and 2008”, he went on to say.
