I have been a Kos member for years, mostly lurking, not even commenting much. Generally, I feel that I'm (at least) slightly to the left of many of Kos members, but I greatly appreciate the opportunity to hear their ideas and opinions, and view the lively debate. Because I grew up in a rural environment, and now live in an urban area, I feel that I have a unique perspective about guns.
I wanted to share this article (my husband's, not mine) that perfectly articulates my feelings about the issue. It is a very long piece (a real time commitment, but worth it), and I found that I was unable to post the entire essay. (This could be because of the specifications of this site, but is more probably because of my lack of technical skills. If anyone wants to post it all, and is able, please feel free.) I've posted the first few paragraphs with a link to continue reading on the original site. I do ask that, if you read the entire piece, you please return to Kos and discuss it with all of us. My intention was to engage this community in the dialogue, not to direct it elsewhere.
