My boss and I have been following a ongoing problem at RBS Citizens Bank that apparently started overnight. It started when we found out that the company's payroll direct deposits had not been posted. He tried to login to the online business checking website, but it's not working once you get past the login.
I tried calling the toll-free phone banking number to check my account balance (which was dangerously close to zero, and now possibly overdrawn since I had just bought breakfast on my card!), but there was a recording stating that due to computer problems they had not processed any transactions for the previous day, including any pending direct paycheck deposits.
A few hours later, my boss went to a local branch to deposit the company's receivables - the teller computers were down, and they told him that all Citizens ATM machines were down as well.
I'm posting this both as a heads-up to other RBS Citizens customers as well as to provide a clearing house for updates on the situation. If anyone happens to have information from the inside that they can share, that would also be extremely helpful.
