While watching this past NBA All-Star game in L.A., and pondering on our current events, especially in Wisconsin, I couldn't help but think of this sports is to politics idea.
So first, NFL is to Republicans.
The government worker strike in Wisconsin, brought on by the Republican dominated executive and legislative branches force their government's workers (minus cops) to take a pay cut while taking away their collective bargaining rights on all future contracts. All in an effort to save tax money expense, which is mostly being paid for by the rich.
Meanwhile, the NFL opted out of their current collective bargaining agreements (CBA) in an effort to pad their wallets by lowering the players salaries (minus QBs), all while trying to extend the NFL season by an extra game.
Best NFL to R analogiy:
Carolina Panther's Owner Jerry Richardson is to Wisconsin's Governor Scott Walker.
The best part of about this whole thing up in Wisconsin has to be that the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers, support our public teachers.
Now, the NBA is to Democrats.
The NBA was once all white, then all black, and now has the most diversity in professional sports. The Cleveland Cavs had a rising star in Lebron James who was to resurrect the franchise, instead changed course and now seems to be universally disliked (Yet still easily made the All-Star game). The NBA's CBA is also about to expire, and most players seem to want to make big deals soon because the money is about to run dry.
Democrats were once the party of slavery...then of civil rights, now of the DREAM act. Obama seemed to have destroyed the Republican party, but then veered to the center, so even his progressive allies don't like him (though seems unbeatable for 2012). Then then even the 'moderates' bailed on him, trying to save their own political skin, only to have few Ds show up in November.
Best NBA to D analogy:
Milwaukee Bucks owner Herb Kohl is to U.S. Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI)
Did you see that sick dunk Kobe had on Lebron?! Obama needs to slam dunk this strike in Wisconsin....and he might rise again.
Let me know what "Best" analogy you can come up with, and comment and vote on my few bumbling analogies.
