We made progress when we "allowed" G/L couples to marry (so far, 1 state). Now, when things go south, the legal system punishes them, and makes victims of their children and their finances.
Think this through with me: if these individuals were Jewish, the uproar would be so intense that the laws would be changed in a nanosecond. If the laws were for a woman named Terri Schiavo, Congress would have reconviend on Christmas. If these laws were for, ahem, minority races, the uproar would be likewise.
But what if they were....Muslim? No. They deserve the discrimination. We would just call it a "War on Terror."
G/L/B/T? No. Let them suffer.
It's carefully cloaked bigotry. We made "concessions" for their "relationship."
Now we're showing our true feelings.
