If you saw the video now on the top recommended list of Gov Walker talking to the fake David Koch, you'll have noted how he thinks withholding the paychecks of the WI Dems currently in Illinois will bring them home. Their checks will no longer be direct-deposited, would have to be picked up in person. I am worried that he is correct, that this may break the Dems resolve.
I'm sure each of the Dems has families they have to support, and financial obligations to meet. How long can they stay away without their paychecks? (Unless some are wealthy enough.) But, they can't all be wealthy enough to stay away for the long haul. I also heard Gov Walker say, with some certainty, that the unions cannot pick up the tab for the hotel, meals, living expenses as that would be legally impossible. I don't know if he is correct, but it sounds logical.
Some type of fund needs to be set up, but I'm at a loss when it comes to thinking further than that. I'm sure many people would donate, but I don't think, that legally, we could use Act Blue. Possibly an Illinois bank could be the depository and issue the paycheck amounts to the Dems? Excess money could be donated to their Senate Campaign Finance Committee.
Anyway, I have seen nothing anywhere which addresses this problem. Gov Walker seemed to think that withholding their pay would be the main thing that draws the Dems back to Wisconsin. What can we do? Thanks.
