Decided for first Obama election that I had stayed out of politics too long.
A representative democracy doesn’t work if the citizens aren’t working and driving it and getting changes made to radically reduce business and wealthy money at levels of our government and to ensure we talk with hope, equality, and fairness. Hate, over the top law enforcement just gets us more mass school shooters, domestic and foreign terrorists here, around the world.
Worked Hard for Obama, Now Hillary As Important
I worked both Obama campaigns and now am working Hillary’s, including getting more Democrats elected At Federal, State, and National levels because Hillary will drive change. Donald will give us more of GOP failed economics, more war, more terrorism, more Defense spending, more debt, and Reagan’s trickle down economics that didn’t work. Since money corrupts on both sides of the aisle, we do need to held Democrats accountable after we deliver landslide victories to many things, e.g., banning business from all political and lobbying finance, setting a middle class affordability limit on all individual campaign and party contributions in any 2-year cycle, putting in the exact same voting rules for Federal, State, and Local elections nationwide, improving Obamacare, breaking up our financial institutions, significantly reducing Defense spending and debt—not OK to have triple or double digit debt increases, radically reducing income inequality to restore the middle class, a minimum wage of at least $15 with no loopholes anywhere, etc.
Phone Calls, Phonebanks, Canvassing, Posting, Using Social Media All Help
I’m making phone calls online from votebuilder.com (Campaign organizer has to train you) from home. I am doing social media via Facebook Group (MW-O Democrat Elections Team) for my swing state area of Metrowest Orlando plus Meet-up, Nextdooor.com, and Tweets. My Wed evening phone banks start next week at my home. This week we start the week-end Phonebank & Canvassing Saturdays and Sundays at and from my home. Planning a couple of events with local celebrities I hope. Coordinating my neighborhood area across the Democrat campaign organizers since they are organized by precinct which is not how communities identify themselves. The work starts with getting campaign volunteers, registering people to vote, encouraging people to request mail-in ballots. then we move to promoting HIllary and Dems that win the Primary to getting the vote out. It is disappointing that it takes so much work to get the American vote out especially with younger people, but that’s the way it is.
I’m doing a lot of posting and reading posts as well. I never name call, try to be respectful, and kind even though I may wan to scream (How could your patriotism or religion let you vote for Donald).
Helping with the Case for Hillary and Democrats—We have to end the Smears.
One of my key goals over the next few days is to write and/or cut and paste, the case for Hillary in terms of her record, how things work in the charity and Washington world, and what she is promising. I’m tired of hearing and talking Donald. It is so negative. I want positivity because it inspires change and hope. I want Obama’s legacy continued. I’d work hard for Hillary even if I didn’t think Hillary was a good candidate because Donald would be disastrous for the America I love, the America my ancestors fought for in 1776, as would allowing GOP policies, racism, blockage, and military violence approach to continue. I will never forgive Bush for planning invasion of Iraq before 9-11, for ignoring over 30 warnings of an attack on American soil (including one of the last briefings says “OK, you covered your ass”, to being clueless on the Middle East and its culture, to allowing Rumsfeld to propagandize to America and the world his Global War on Terror. We wouldn’t have the level of terrorism we do except for Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld and predominantly the GOP executing an illegal war.
Donald Isn’t Worth Our Time-When we attack him, the opposition digs heels in further.
This election for me is a lot more about Hillary, the 95% of America that is middle and lower economic class, and ensuring the GOP loses power due to its corruption by the worst of business and their money and the money of the greedy wealthy. I am a white, 61 year old, college educated white woman who is proud of this country’s diversity and demands that minorities, women, and LGBTQ get equal rights and fair treatment that felons and prisoners get the right to vote. My family and I have been abused by the police 7 times and we’re white, so the attitude of cops is crossing over. There are a lot, majority of good cops, but they have to own this problem to fix it, e.g., reducing the fraternity approach, reduce covering for bad behavior of other cops, don’t feel they can lecture and blast people and/or treat roughly, and conquer their fears and going to lethal force. We need more training and simulation of all cops.
It’s about Positivity for What Hillary, Democrats Can Get Done to Start Taking Back our Democracy. First & foremost ending the Business & the Wealthy Money Corruption of all our governments establishing the same voting rules for all elections nationwide—Federalism is not an issue for a government of the people and voting rights in terms of campaign and lobbying finance or voting rights.
Defeating Donald is a given, but supporting Hillary isn’t. If people would take on a learning mindset (not a judging mindset or frozen mindset), they might see an unconscious or conscious sexist bias that I saw in myself that started when Hillary was in the White House; they might see the years of propaganda against her by the GOP, and truly look her truth rating as well as the lack of scandal, illegality, in all the smear attacks. They might see the years of contribution both successful and not successful. I still am horrified that I believed the smear campaign the GOP did on John Kerry. Did she do everything right? No. If she were a man, would anyone notice? Nope. Does she have to use the system to win? Yes. Would we have a problem with a man getting big speaking fees? No. She lives like every other privileged politician and yet we judge her much more harshly. Some of that harshness is unconsciously because she is a woman that isn’t the beauty we revere. I like that she is not a slick politician or performer and that it is clear she is a great Mom and wife.
I am thrilled Bernie pulled Hillary more left and we have to hold her to it. but, the only way to begin to take our democracy back is to elect Clinton/Kaine and Democrats all the way down the ticket. I’m going to work hard for a landslide on both counts!
