Just a quick warning. This company is a scam.

They are offering a $9.95 "free trial" of an e-cigarette. The product is crap, and when you try to call to "cancel" you will be on hold for hours. I tried for 2 weeks to get through to customer service. Then an unauthorized charge for $99.95 appeared on my account from them.

EDIT: Although this story was reported as a "confirmed" case; we are still awaiting confirmation from CDC.

UPDATE: Here is a copy of the e-mail received by WFTV news: http://www.wftv.com/... The e-mail was from Loran D. Hauck, MD, VP and Chief Medical Officer.

No case is "confirmed" until the CDC says so. Good thing we have CDC to filter our information for us.

UPDATE: 2:46 pm EST
2 hospitalized in NYC with suspected swine flu; "many hundreds" of schoolchildren sick.

The current proposed stimulus package is an embarrassment. I've been impressed with Obama's actions so far, but I can't believe he's promoting such a lame bill. I mean, birth control? daycare for military bases? re-sodding the Mall? Worthy little projects perhaps, but hardly a major stimulus package.

Okay, some better ideas on the jump...

Everyone claims to be bewildered by the behavior of the Democrats, who seem unable or unwilling to confront the Bush administration. Are they afraid of being unpopular? Are they just confused and disorganized? When will they "grow a spine"?

CALL TO ACTION

I just got an urgent e-mail from the ACLU regarding the Patriot Act Reauthorization Bill, which is up for a vote this week. The Repubs are threatening to stop a Democratic fillibuster by invoking cloture.

Backers of the reauthorization bill claim that they have made major improvements to the Patriot Act. Don't be fooled. Adding 4-year sunsets on three provisions of the act while making the rest of the powers permanent and making the National Security Letter (NSL) powers of the FBI worse certainly does not protect our civil liberties.

Since I can't improve much on their words, I have posted more info from the ACLU site on the flip, along with their handy link that makes it easy to find and call your representatives. Please recommend, so we can have as many Kos'ers as possible make calls. We need to stop this! Read More

As you probably know, many members of the Bush administration are "neocons." It's not exactly a secret. You occasionally hear the term kicked around on the political shows. It's been diaried by others on Kos. But most Americans don't fully understand what it means to have neocons in power. This diary is for you.
