I keep seeing people say that Tweeden was a Hooter's Girl, or posed for Playboy, as a way of discrediting her story. This is the same tactic they use with Melania: "She posed nude, hur dur." If you care, you have a problem. These two women do not.
The issue is double standards. The GOP attacked Michelle Obama for baring her (gorgeous) arms while embracing Melania as "classy." That's a shockingly obvious double standard. (They are also claiming Michelle is a man.) Melania lied about her education, plagiarized some speeches, and supported Trump in his revoltingly racist Birther crusade. I'm sure there's more, but many supposedly liberal men revert to sexism when they're faced with conservative women. That means you, supposedly liberal dude-bro, who thinks calling Ann Couler "Mann" Coulter is witty and original.
Coulter defended Clarence Thomas, is disgustingly racist, lies about just about everything, uses blatantly crooked footnoting, says women shouldn't be allowed to vote, and.....I don't have time or space to list everything. Why attack the one thing she cannot change? Why not attack the very things she chooses for herself, the things she does and says? The things that are actually relevant? Swim wear is not relevent to character either, unless, I guess, you steal it from a store or something.
Tweeden's background with Hannity is enough to give one pause. He's a revolting liar and a fanatic with absolutely no redeeming qualities, so who on earth could stand him? There's also the fact that Roger Stone and Infowars announced that Franken would be "in the barrel" soon-----hours before Tweeden came forward.
The rightwing has only itself to blame if nobody sensible trusts them. Fox News? Bill O'Reilly? The Tea Party? Pizzagate? Milo? James O'Keefe? David Daleidon? Supporting Trump, a liar of shocking shamelessness? Breitbart? "Many fine people"? The rightwing has adopted a practice of lying about everything----abortion, womens' rights, "religious freedom"----so that scarcely know where to begin. Alex Jones, who took up where Fox News left off, wants you to believe that Pizzagate happened but Sandy Hook did not, for example. Even though he claimed in a recent custody trial it was all entertainment, his fans still believe his lies, because for this crowd, those lies are what they want to be true, what they think should be true. That is a very dangerous mindset.
For the lucky few who don't know, "Pizzagate" is an Infowars-invented conspiracy that posits Hillary Clinton and various members of her campaign were not simply ordering pizza when they exchanged email discussing various pizzerias and pies and toppings.
No, according to the brain trust at Infowars, Hillary Clinton was secretly molesting children in the tunnels beneath a pizzeria's basement in DC.
DC sits on a flood plain.
At the same time, these people believe Hillary is raking in the Soros billions and is a cackling, evil, devious, money-grubbing schemer. Somehow, however, this supervillain does not choose to secretly rent a secluded private villa out in the boonies with a well-bribed security force. No, she chooses to molest children in a moldy basement in downtown DC where a waiter or busboy could presumably stumble on her.
This is why nobody should trust anything the Repubs say, especially about women. What would have to be wrong with you to believe something so idiotic?
Just because the Repubs set the bar low is no reason for Dems to accept that standard for themselves. Tweeden could be the founder of "Speculum Sports" and it still would not say anything about her character. Associating with people like Hannity, Stone, voting for Trump----these things illustrate what bothers her or what she accepts. Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women----and then when several women and then girls confirmed his claims, he called them liars. It's not like that was a momentary lapse. That is a choice that matters.
