It's a slow day today so I can't help considering what Federal Crimes the members of Congress who refuse to fund the budget and instead have staged a shutdown of our government could be indicted with, in my own little world. I have concluded that if I were the President, I would give them two days to get back to work or face being indicted for each of the following:
1. Treason 18 U.S.C. 2381
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than 5 years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000 and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
2. Rebellion or Insurrection, 18 U.S.C. 2383
Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
3. Seditious Conspiracy U.S.C. 2384
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.
I would sue them jointly and individually for all of the costs the United States government is incurring. I am certainly against the death penalty but I do not have a problem suing every member of Congress for the damage inflicted upon the United States by reason of this shutdown. Extreme maybe but ... there is no end to this since the Republican party has been planning this game since Spring of 2013. They are achieving a government shutdown of all services which most people would find to be essential. They should be fired and sued. We should not be held hostages to these individuals, their big bankrolling corporate elite, and the alleged quasi religious elite who use scorecards to govern who should be an office holder by reason of towing the line to the list of Republican Tea party dogmas. Back to work...
