Gardens of Stone
Will you lay me down, in a garden of stone;
When your needs are great, will you lead me home?
Should my load grow hard, will you help me then;
In my darkest hour, as will stand and defend?
When I am sent away, to a foreign land;
Marching a thousand miles, through the burning sand;
And wipe the blood from my face, with your trembling hand;
...if I give myself for you?
Will you write my name, in the Book of Life;
When my time draws near, in my toils and strife?
Will you remember me then, when I’m dead and gone;
And my life is done, will you still remember me?
When I am sent away, to a foreign land;
Marching a thousand miles, through the burning sand;
And wipe your tears away, with my dying hand;
...if I give myself for you?
Would you lay me down, in a garden of stone;
...will you still remember me?
