He keeps giving this as his reason for not withdrawing from the race. He doesn't want to disenfranchise Florida a second time.
Okay, we started with ten declared candidates for the Democratic nomination. The first to withdraw was Bob Graham, who happens to be one of the most popular Florida political figures of recent history, if not THE most popular. He pulled out because his campaign wasn't attracting a lot of support (or money). Did he disenfranchise all the Floridians who had no doubt been looking forward to voting for him?
Joe Lieberman certainly has some loyal supporters all over the country, most definitely including Florida. So when he withdrew from the race, did he disenfranchise all those people?
And how about Al Sharpton? Al Sharpton is going to get some votes in Florida, I bet. So he shouldn't withdraw from the race either. And what's more, he won't. His voters will not be disenfranchised.
But every time I hear Dean use this specious and threadbare argument, I feel a little more disillusioned.:-(
