Earlier this month several homemade bombs were set off near a reproductive clinic in Longmont, CO. Earlier this week police found a house nearby full of potential bomb-making equipment and chemicals, "cartloads" of guns and ammo, and books about explosives and "revenge" a few blocks away from the clinic. But hey, the's guy's white, so they let him go.
Police are saying Ronald Swerlein, 50, whose house in a sleepy residential neighborhood was a short walk from several parks and schools, is not a suspect in the clinic bombing case. His explanation that he was "experimenting with rocket fuel" was good enough for Longmont's finest. He's free on $50,000 bail on two counts of possessing explosives.
OK, really, it could be very obvious to the police (for reasons they're not sharing) that Swerlein was absolutely, positively not the clinic bomber. But jeez, maybe we should take him a little more seriously as a threat?
