This is probably not really a diary so much as a request for advice.
I just received a phone call at work from a contractor we do work for. He wants to talk to my boss about joining an organization similar to the HBA.
I asked him to tell me a little about what they do so I could forward that on and my boss could decide whether to call him back or not.
The first thing from his mouth was: Well we do alot of networking, political stuff like trying to stop the union assault on Florida, say no on 4 and stuff like that.
Now I am a firm supporter of union rights. I am armed with the knowledge that my 40hour work week, paid vacation and overtime pay is a direct result of the past labor movement in this country.
Prop 4 was a proposition on the ballot last Nov allowing voters to have the power to approve or dissaprove new developments for commerical or residential building. I am a believer that the big construction companies would turn Florida into one giant condo complex if given half the chance, even if there are no buyers. (Full disclosure: I can't remember if it passed or not)
My dilema is this: Given that this organization apparently espouses everything I am against politically, do I give my boss the message?
Advice would be great.
