Spoke to one of my customers today, an accountant with NASA and picked up a couple of interesting tidbits.
This will be a short diary.
President Obama is scheduled to give a big speech at NASA. The content of this speech is being kept very hush hush so the employees are hoping for good news.
Some already had good news though:
My customer is the accountant overseeing the ISS and their budget has been increased, and Obama rescinded Bush's order that it only go thru to 2020. It is being extended to 2030 with no finite end date.
My customer's spouse is the accountant in charge of NASA facilities and their budget has already been increased to start making changes to support the influx of new, private companies coming in to take over the next program.
It is my hope that he announces a transition period for the shuttle workers and that he announces some kind of manufacturing for the new vehicles to be done right there on the space coast, or else thousands more will be out of a job come Sept 30 after the last shuttle launch.
If any Kossaks work at NASA and can write a diary on what is announced at that meeting, it would be great.
Also, if anyone has been following the whole Florida SB6 bill to punish teachers and minority children, apparently Crist hasn't signed or vetoed yet. I heard somewhere that he has until Friday to do one or the other.
