On the first day of their presidencies, the Republican candidates have already mapped out a flurry of activity, almost all of which involves reversing some of President Obama's biggest accomplishments. The first two biggies almost everyone agrees on:
•Ending President Obama's executive actions on immigration
•Scrapping the Iran nuclear deal
But here's the specific highlights from several Republicans:
Donald Trump: He'll start deporting immigrants posthaste. “Day one. If I win, day one of my presidency, they’re getting out. We’re getting them out." He's also declaring China a currency manipulator on day one.
Ted Cruz: Not to be outdone by any of his rivals, Cruz will supposedly "rescind every single illegal and unconstitutional executive action" that President Obama has rolled out. The Iran nuclear deal is out. But Cruz’s special agenda item is ordering the IRS and Justice Department to stop the "persecution of religious liberty."
Ben Carson: He made his first-day agenda known in an interview with World Net Daily and it includes freezing the debt limit. Sorry, in advance, to all our creditors—a President Carson will mean you’re SOL. Also, he's got "experts" assembling a plan to take on cybersecurity threats starting on day one—something he announced on Facebook in August.
Marco Rubio: "As president I would reverse the Iran deal and increase sanctions on day one."
Jeb! Bush: Jeb!, for one, mocked his rivals, saying he'd do a few other things before tearing up the Iran agreement.
"That sounds great, but maybe you ought to check in with your allies first... Maybe you ought to appoint a secretary of State, maybe a secretary of Defense. You might want to have your team in place before you take an act like that."
Hmm. Jeb!'s actually making some sense there, which is sure to be a loser for him among the GOP electorate.
