In the wake of the Paris attacks, congressional Republicans added funding to resettle Syrian refugees to their long list of reasons to shut down the government, and they may start to move quickly:
Speaker Paul Ryan announced to a closed meeting of Republicans Tuesday morning that he hopes the House will take action this week to address refugees from Syria, according to a source in the room.
Ryan hasn’t decided exactly what legislation the House will push, but it’s safe to say it won’t be about smoothing the path of the refugees. On Monday:
"We're looking at all of our options about how do we make sure that something like this doesn't happen coming here to us with refugees," Ryan said.
In case that’s not clear enough for you:
Instead, let’s give terrorists the chance to create fear and take advantage of America’s predictable lack of compassion, giving the world a clear view of a country refusing to help the vulnerable because of their faith.
