President Obama addressed his strategy against ISIS Monday in a short press conference in which he asserted that the terrorist organization is losing territory to U.S.-led coalition forces. John Parkinson reports:
"As we squeeze its heart we’ll make it harder for ISIL to sell its propaganda to the world," Obama said following a meeting at the Pentagon with his national security council, using an alternative name for ISIS.
Obama added that his administration continually reassesses its strategy to fight ISIS, not only against trained extremists on the battlefields of Syria and Iraq, but also in the U.S. homeland against radicalized followers.
"ISIL leaders cannot hide and our message to them is 'you are next,'" Obama said.
Obama added that ISIS is being hit "harder than ever," as several generals, Vice President Joe Biden, and Defense Secretary Ash Carter looked on. The president's eight-minute address from the Pentagon briefing room was a signal of the administration’s increased sense of urgency following the shootings in San Bernardino, CA. Obama did not take questions after his remarks.
