Here's Republican candidate and still-sitting New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie lying robustly about the damage this weekend's blizzard did to his state.
"I know there's some flooding damage in the southern part of your state, clearly a lot of residual damage from the storm. What do you say to those critics who say, 'Why did you go back up to New Hampshire so quickly?'" [Huffington Post editor Sam Stein] asked, as the program rolled footage showing flooding in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, on Saturday.
“Sam, I don’t even know what critics you’re talking about. There is no residual damage, there is no flooding damage," Christie said. "All of the flooding receded yesterday morning. And there was no other damage. People were driving around the streets yesterday morning of New Jersey. So this is just what they wish would have happened."
For the record, that was not true. It isn't even close to being true. While the already-back-in-New-Hampshire Chris Christie was lambasting Stein in particular for "making it up,” his state's residents were still dealing with closed roads, continued flooding after a storm surge "worse than Sandy,” and extensive damage. Not that state residents don't know the score.
"He couldn't claim a disaster because that would mean he'd have to stay here," said Maui D'Antuono, 52, owner of Maui's Dog House in North Wildwood.
And we can't have that. Chris Christie, away!
You know, he truly is the most unapologetic liar in the race. And that's a hell of a contest to win.
