Will Donald Trump change his very presidential tone if elected president? Maybe, maybe not.
“Well, I have to tell you, maybe I shouldn’t be changing it too much," he said, after Geist mentioned an incident with a protester at an event Monday during which Trump said he "would like to punch him in the face." [...]
Trump returned to his normal line that he "might tone it down a little."
"I may very well change it," he added, "but right now it seems to be working pretty well.”
Ha ha ha. Maybe we’d have a president who talked about punching people who vocally disagreed with him, maybe we wouldn’t! What an adventure for our nation. But like he says, it’s working pretty well right now, and his supporters don’t seem to care. Trump has a pretty high estimation of how little his supporters care, no matter how offensive he gets:
"Even the really dishonest press says Trump’s people are the most incredible," he said, according to a video from Politico. "Sixty-eight percent would not leave under any circumstances. I think that means murder. I think it means anything."
He thinks it. And how much would you want to bet against him putting it to the test—rhetorically at least—if not in actual murder?
