Another also-ran establishment type has endorsed Ted Cruz over Donald Trump because, well, #NeverTrump (never mind his delegate lead). Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker weighed in Tuesday, telling radio host Charlie Sykes his decision wasn't "a default." Caitlin MacNeal reports:
Walker told Sykes that Cruz is in "the best position by far to both win the nomination of the Republican party" and the general election.
The governor touted Cruz as the "strong new leader" America needs.
"I just fundamentally believe that he’s a Constitutional conservative," Walker said, adding that Cruz "has shown he is not afraid to take on the big government special interests."
Walker plans to campaign for Cruz leading up to the state’s April 5 primary and added that he feels “strongly” about supporting Cruz. Oh, and there's this:
Cruz perhaps set himself up to receive Walker's backing when he asked his supporters to help Walker pay off his campaign debt in December.
